Neil Welch is a young British sculptor, born in the heart of the potteries Staffordshire, where he still works from his studio. Neil left school at the age of 16 and gained a two year apprenticeship at the new Victoria theatre as a stage set and props designer, where he discovered a love of sculpture which has never left him. Soon after this he joined Wedgewood as an 'in house' sculptor and spent seven years there learning anatomy and studying his art. The curves of the human form are overwhelmingly complex and Neil's talent for capturing the fleeting gestures and mood in his studies have seen him gain commission after commission.

He became freelance in 2002 and since then he has received a range of high-profile commissions including Royal Doulton, Royal Worcester, The Wedgewood prestige basalt collections and Disney. He has also worked closely with Elizabeth Emanuel and Thelma Nadine to bring their elaborate dress designs to life in clay and LOCOG the official board for the 2012 Olympic games.

Neils diverse background and his career, spanning two decades, has resulted in a combination of skills and experience which have all been vital in making Neil the sculptor he is today. Neil's sculptures truly captivate and inspire, his work is extraordinarily beautiful. This surely is the reason why Neil is celebrated as one of the most talented figurative artists living and working in Britain today.
